Timeless Design and Committed Collaboration in Portland

Meet clients John and Teresa, who chose the Prairie-style Jefferson plan to build on their existing property. When asked to pinpoint three to five elements why they recommend Renaissance Homes, John quickly replied, “Process, quality and communication,” and Teresa added, “We really trust Renaissance.”

As self-described home shopping addicts, John and Teresa earnestly looked at countless homes. But there was one home they kept returning to see again and again. And that home was a Renaissance Home built from the Jefferson plan.

“It fundamentally felt different walking into a Renaissance Home,” revealed Teresa.

The Prairie-style Jefferson plan provides an ideal layout for gatherings with its L-shaped layout for living, kitchen, and dining room spaces. Plus, it offers four spacious bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths, loft, and home office. At 2,625 square feet, it more than tripled John and Teresa’s living space, making their dream of providing a gathering place for their extended family a reality.

Modern Aesthetic Interwoven with Warm Textures and Tones

John and Teresa worked with Pam and Lynette in our award-winning Design Studio to create a home that fit their modern aesthetic, interwoven with warm tones. Their home features handsome quarter-sawn walnut cabinetry throughout the living area and a stunning concrete-wash fireplace. The fireplace was especially important to John. Parker, their Renaissance Homes Construction Manager, made sure to listen and get all the details right to create exactly what John wanted.

“Parker hit it out of the park,” said John.

The Prairie-style Jefferson plan provides a perfect framework to create a contemporary home that can evolve as time and their style changes. This blank slate approach to the overall look and feel of the home gives John and Theresa the freedom to easily make changes so the home progresses with them.

“It can evolve as the times evolve. It doesn’t feel fixed,” said John.

Gathering Place for Extended Family

The vast kitchen island wrapped in quarter-sawn walnut cabinetry and boasting a stainless steel farmhouse sink serves as the perfect place to gather family and friends in the heart of the home, the kitchen. Stainless steel appliances, cabinets reaching to the ceiling, and tile backsplash tie this outstanding kitchen together.

“Pam and Lynnette helped us pick out a beautiful tile that wasn’t our first choice for the backsplash, but I’m so much happier with what they suggested than what we would’ve originally wanted,” said Teresa.

Where luxury meets restoration

A staircase with elegant and streamlined black metal railing leads upstairs and down the hall to the master en suite. The light-filled master bedroom is laid in the beautiful wood flooring that is carried throughout the home. The master bathroom showcases the same elegant quarter-sawn walnut cabinetry as downstairs, creating a beautiful flow of continuous style. A spacious walk-in tiled shower with built-in bench and multiple shower heads promises luxury.

“It feels like we’re in a fancy hotel,” said John.

Dream Team to Create a Family Hub

One of the main goals for John and Teresa was to build a home that was authentic to them and could serve as a special place to bring their whole family together. John shared that, “we felt like we were all on the same team.” From beginning to end, Renaissance Homes realtor, Amanda, Construction Manager, Parker, and Designers, Lynnette and Pam, always had John and Teresa’s best interest in mind and remained vigilant in communication and committed to the process to deliver a quality product.

“Pam and Lynnette listened to the vibe that we were going for and understood that we had some wants, but also that we aren’t designers. That’s why we’re coming to them. They made perfect suggestions…They used their expertise to make it true to us,” said Teresa.

By creating a home that reflects their warm and contemporary style, yet is also adaptable to changing aesthetics, Renaissance Homes helped John and Teresa realize their dream that they can share with family and friends.
