Construction Manager Dennis McCrea retired this week from Renaissance Homes.  After a long history with the company – dating back to 1987 when he started framing our houses – Dennis has been instrumental to our growing company.  Dennis McCrea

“Dennis has been a dedicated and loyal employee and friend for many, many years.  We are sad to see him go but, are confident he will enjoy the stress-free days of retirement,” said Clark Dunning, Renaissance’s Director of Production.

DennisAt a company retirement party on Oct. 28, Dunning and other employees told stories of notable memories with Dennis – on the job site (sometimes in a rain storm) and while figuring out complicated cabinet layouts and large Street of Dreams showstoppers. Starting production on Vintage style homes in Portland proper – often with dug out basements – brought a big smile across Dennis’ face.

Dennis’ calm demeanor and helpful attitude wove like a thread through all of the speeches.

When asked, Dennis said that building the 2003 Street of Dreams home “Nature’s Door” was one of his favorite projects. The Renaissance home featured an exquisite outdoor covered pool, well-appointed wine cellar, sun room and game room complete with a bar and big screen projector TV. He also had fond memories of the 2001 Street of Dreams award-winner, “The Big Easy” — complete with a motorcycle display room, home theater, curved extravagant staircase and cascading waterfalls.

While Renaissance is saddened to see someone with Dennis’ work experience, great attitude and knowledge go, we’re all better builders for having learned from him.

“I’ve always felt a sense of pride working for Renaissance,” Dennis said. “It’s something I’m very proud of.”
