Refined Farmhouse with Modern Interiors in Northeast Portland

Seasoned real estate broker Adiam Mehretab has dedicated years helping clients achieve and build their desired homes. So we took it as a high compliment when Adiam and his wife Brandy selected Renaissance Homes to build a home that would serve their family well and age with them gracefully.

Adiam and Brandy selected the Vaughn Farmhouse plan with considerable upgrades to create a home that would stand the test of time. Their 3,607 square foot home serves their active family well with five bedrooms, 3 full baths, office, finished basement, and practical mudroom.

“I would give them an A through the whole process,” said Adiam.

Modern Interior with a Timeless Exterior

Adiam knows houses and understands the importance of a well-designed floor plan. This was a key consideration when he and Brandy were deciding which Renaissance Homes design to select. The couple’s main goal was to create a home with a modern interior that wasn’t ultra-modern or looked cookie cutter.

The Vaughn Farmhouse met those requirements, and then some, with a timeless Farmhouse exterior and highly sought-after L-shaped living, kitchen, and dining room space. A cohesive palette of greys and white with warm hardwood floors established a clean and modern base that Adiam and Brandy can build upon as their children grow.

“The great room is in line with the kitchen so you could be working at the island and still have a conversation with people in the living room or watch TV,” said Adiam.

The Ultimate Hangout Spot for the Whole Family

The grand kitchen island with a classic white farm sink, built-in cabinetry, and microwave provides the ultimate hangout spot for the whole family. Elegant white quartz countertops complement the white subway tile backsplash and white cabinets that stretch to the ceiling.  Stainless steel appliances coordinate well with modern silver hardware on the cabinets in this refined kitchen.

“The island’s huge… we spend a lot of time there,” said Adiam.

Bedrooms for Everyone!

A wood staircase with sleek black railing leads the way upstairs to four spacious bedrooms, including the master en-suite. Double doors open to a master bedroom filled with light and laid with sumptuous carpet. A large acrylic soaking tub and separate walk-in shower in white tile await in the master bathroom. In addition to the separate his and her sinks, this master en-suite delights with two large walk-in closets with substantial built-in organization.

“Each kid has their own room, we got to see it be built. It was an awesome experience,” revealed Adiam.

The Basement: The Underground Bonus

It was important to Adiam and Brandy to provide a special place for their children to play and a comfortable room for Adiam’s mother-in-law. The 763 square foot finished basement includes a spacious carpeted rec room and a bedroom with an attached full bathroom. Oversized windows and deep window wells bring in more natural light, accomplishing a brighter and more attractive space than a traditional basement.

Let’s Keep Mud in the Mudroom

The decision to add a mudroom to their home has proven valuable to help maintain their beautiful wood floors. This was an upgrade that Adiam and Brandy decided on early on, but has proven to be even more beneficial than expected. It’s even one of Adiam’s favorite parts of the house. The stylish mudroom right off the garage makes organizing and keeping the house tidy easier with a built-in bench, cabinetry, and accessible hooks.

The Answer is Yes

Adiam is always helping others obtain or build their dream home. It was an honor to partner with him to do the same for his family. Working with Renaissance Homes is often seen as a true partnership, with clients and the Renaissance Homes team working closely together from planning to design to construction stages.

When asked about his experience with Renaissance Homes, Adiam said that “Parker was the best project manager that I have seen and have worked with. He was amazing.”

An added bonus was that, even during the COVID-19 pandemic, design and construction stayed on schedule. Adiam credited Renaissance Homes' proven process and system with this efficiency and ease of completion.

“I was pleasantly surprised in the times that we are in [during the COVID-19 pandemic] that they got it done on time,” Adiam said.

Now that Adiam has moved from helping clients build Renaissance Homes to building a home for himself and his family, he had to ask himself the ultimate question.

“Would I build a house with Renaissance again? The answer is yes,” said Adiam.
