Renaissance Homes was thrilled to be a sponsor of Sunday Parkways this year.
Beginning in May, the monthly community event held on a Sunday was an enjoyable success for the Renaissance team.
Presented by Kaiser Permanente, the yearly Sunday Parkways events foster the community by blocking off roads in a safe six to nine mile loop so attendees can safely bike ride or walk through the streets. This year’s routes took place in East Portland, North Portland, NE Portland, SE Portland and SW Portland.
Seeing the thousands of friends and families participating in physical activity and chatting at booths along the route, like ours, was enjoyable. The weather was great and our staff enjoyed decorating bikes and talking to visitors about our new, LEED-certified homes.
We were also impressed by the great showing of food vendors, games, entertainment, fitness classes and demonstrations along each route and its surrounding parks.
According to Sunday Parkways organizer Linda Ginenthal, more than 109,000 people attended Sunday Parkways this year – up from last year.
The events align well with the culture at Renaissance Homes. We build new homes using the latest in green technologies. And many of our homes come with a separate bike/gear room off the garage. The staff at Renaissance are active, often participating in 5K races, half marathons and marathons and always trying to beat personal goals. Renaissance President Randy Sebastian exercises each day and participates in international Ironman Triathlons – encompassing a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride followed by a 26.2 marathon all in one day.
We hope everyone enjoyed the season as much as we did. It was a great time exploring the outdoors with you.
