One of Portland's most popular holiday traditions returns to the Oregon Zoo which transforms into a Christmas wonderland in the dark with incredible light displays and a train ride taking you around the zoo to view the magical sights.

Arguably one of Portland's most well-known streets as tudor homes are adorned with beautiful holiday lights. Grab your hot cocoa and bundle up for a memorable stroll on Peacock Lane!


Christmas Ships Parade ----------- December 1st - December 21st -------- Columbia and Willamette Rivers


Up to 60 boats set sail on the Columbia and Willamette Rivers all decorated with various themes celebrating the holidays. Visit the website to view the schedule and see where you will be able to view the ships on a particular night.


Winter Wonderland ------------------ Now - December 26th ---------------------  Portland International Raceway

Visit (and drive through!) the largest light show in the Northwest at Portland International Raceway. Enjoy the warmth of your car while viewing these spectacular nights, or visit on special nights like "Bike the Lights Night" or "Lights and Leashes Dog Walk Night" for a fun twist on a Portland classic!

Visit one of Portland's most well-known landmarks, Pittock Mansion, and view it all dressed up for the holidays! This year, experience the quintessential places, people, and events of this city incorporated into the decorations throughout the Mansion. Musicians the Mansion's Music Room with holiday music during the month.


Christmas in Dairyville -------------- December 1st - December 17th -------  Alpenrose Dairy

FREE (but unwrapped toys are gladly accepted to help out local children in need)

Explore a western frontier town transformed into a winter wonderland at Alpenrose Dairy. Walk around with hot cocoa or cider in hand along with some goodies from the bakery and listen to carolers singing, watch holiday movies in the opera house, check out the live animals in Storybook Lane, and pay a visit to Santa Claus!

All aboard! Put on your pajamas and head on up to Hood River to board The Train to Christmas Town! Santa and his elves will pay each passenger a visit and cookies and hot chocolate will be served. This will be a fun ride for the whole family that will talk about for years to come!

Head on down to Pioneer Courthouse Square for the 2017 Holiday Ale Fest! Back for its' 55th season, Portland's Singing Christmas Tree returns to the Keller Auditorium with traditional holiday music performed by over 350 voices, dancers, and live orchestra. This Portland tradition is one of the best ways to kick off the holiday season!

A cherished holiday tradition returns as the Oregon Ballet Theatre brings The Nutcracker to life at the Keller Auditorium. If you think it is like one you have seen before think again because this presentation of the classic play is the only one choreographed by George Balanchine that is west of the Mississippi.
